In the late 1960's, David C. Morse, an engineer by training, began to design his own fundamental equity research to improve the performance of his personal investment portfolio. By 1970, his methods were obviously successful. Through the years, Dave has continued to apply his engineering skill to develop investment models and stock selection techniques that serve as the basis of many successful managers’ investment processes today.

Fran (Ford) Morse has dedicated her life to helping others, both in her professional life and as a leader in her church. For more than thirty years, Fran has applied this dedication to helping investment managers improve their performance using Ford’s data and methods. Along the way, she has made countless friends in the investment community.

In 1970, Fran and David founded Ford Equity Research based upon David’s unique approach to data validation and modeling.

Ford Equity Research Today

Today, Ford continues to apply unique methods to investment research, quantitative investment models, and fundamental data. We provide databases, analysis software, and backtesting services to professional investment managers and individual investors.

Ford Investor Services, Inc., doing business as Ford Equity Research, is a privately owned firm incorporated in the state of California and is listed with Dun & Bradstreet.

Our Data

Ford Equity Research begins with sound fundamental data. Our data are hard numbers, taken from original sources and/or publicly available reports. Raw data, such as share price, earnings, book value, and cash flow are included.

Value-added data distinguish the Ford Equity Research Database from others. In addition to providing standard financial information, Ford Equity Research adjusts earnings data to eliminate non-recurring factors, converts raw data to ratios for analysis, and provides proprietary calculations.

Ford Equity Research also maintains a historical database on U.S. securities dating back to 1970, and international securities dating back to 1987. Our U.S. historical data are uniquely suited to performance testing: Information is stored as of the date reported, not on a fiscal-year or quarterly basis. In addition, we never restate historical data, and we maintain files on companies that are no longer in existence, thereby effectively eliminating survivorship bias.
